Union Bank of India or UBI is the public sector bank based in Mumbai, India. It offers various banking and financial products to the personal, corporate, NRIs, Rural and agriculture, MSME sectors. History and Recognition
Union Bank of India was founded in 1919 and its head office building was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. Till the independence of India, the bank owned only 4 branches in Mumbai and Saurashtra. The bank witnessed a rapid Progress and installed over 240 branches before being taken over by Government of India. The bank was merged with several other financial institutions like Belgaum Bank, Miraj State Bank and acquired Sikkim Bank. Union Bank of India started its expansion to the other countries in 2007. The bank has been honored with many awards such as Financial Inclusion Technology Initiative award, IDRBT IT Excellence Awards, The Dale Carnegie Leadership Award etc. The slogan of the bank reads "Good People to Bank with".
