The Atlantic Magazine Contact number, Address, Customer Service

This is sent in reference to Ed Yong's weepy complaint about plague-ridden tropical Africa. Can't say I was impressed For one thing, when, in 1962, I went to Liberia as one of the 1st group of Peace Corps Volunteers sent there the vast majority of Africans were stone-age primitives; they still are today, albeit a fair number have learned to drive automobiles and fire AK-47s. Doesn't appear that 56 years of Peace Corps involvement on the continent has made much of a difference toward lifting Africans out of savagery. Nor do I expect another 56 years of Peace Corps involvement to do any good, either.

This is sent in reference to Ed Yong's weepy worry about plague-ridden tropical Africa. Can't say I was impressed. In part that's because when, in 1962, I went to Liberia in the 1st group of Peace Corps Volunteers sent there, the vast majority of Africans were stone-age savages; they still are today. Doesn't appear that 56 years of Peace Corps involvement in Africa has made much of a difference toward lifting Africans out of backwardness and poverty; very much doubt that an additional 56 years will change things.
