Company Expansion in Canada
Target acquired 189 stores operated by Hudson’s Bay Company Zellers in 2011 with the intent to use 135 stores to open Target Stores in 2013. In Canada, the first store of the company was opened in March 2013 in the Ontario communities in Guelph, Fergus and Milton whereas on 7th of May 2013, Target Canada opened nine stores in British Columbia, ten stores in Alberta and Three stores in Manitoba locations. After that, Target opened stores in four provinces, which also include cities in Regina and Saskatoon on 16th of July 2013 whereas between 17th of September and 18th of October in 2013, Target Canada opened many stores in the provinces of Quebec and Nova Scotia. Target sells the remaining thirty nine stores to other retailers such as Walmart Canada. In November 2013, the company opened thirty three new stores in the provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador. On 14th of March 2014, Target opened three more locations in The Stockyards in Toronto, Ontario, Kingston mall in Edmonton, Alberta and Hillside Shopping centre in Victoria, British Columbia where in the same year, the Company opened three locations in Park Place in Barrie, Ontario, Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga and Carrefour Canadiac, Quebec on 1st of August. There is also a store of Target Corporation in Whitby, Ontario.
