SBI Credit Card is an option of payment for SBI customers where cardholders pay for goods through credit cards. SBI launched its credit card service as joint venture between SBI and GE Capital to offer customer facility to use various world class facilities. This alliance service, operates through two joint-venture companies- SBI Cards and Payment Service Pvt. Ltd in order to offers proper distribution and marketing of SBI Cards. SBI offers this service to approximately 2.7 million users, and has opened this facility in 63 major cities of India. SBI Card is used for various customer needs and can be used as Premium Cards, Travel Cards, Shopping Cards, Classic Cards and Corporate Cards. Apart from this, the customer can also offer service of Europay, Mastercard and Visa Card, etc. State Bank of India is one of the largest bank along with ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank and Bank of Baroda. History
SBI Cards was launched in 1998 by SBI and has presence in over fifty cities throughout India. By 1999, the entity achieved a customer base of over one lakh customers, which was expanded to over one million in 2002. In the same year, SBI Card entered into an alliance with the United Bank of India in 2002 and by 2003, it had issued two million cards. Over the coming years saw its growth to become one of the largest credit card issuers in India.
