Prime Minister Relief Fund or Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) is a trust that offers funds to help the victims or their families in Riots, Flood, Drought, Earthquakes, Cyclone, Tsunami or other natural calamities occurring across India. Prime Minister is the supreme head of the National Relief Fund and funds are disbursed only after the judgement or permission of the Prime Minister. TPrime Minister’s National Relief Fund was founded in the year 1948 by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru (former Prime Minster). The fund has been totally exempted from Income Tax. According to the report (2013-14), the total expenditure was Rs.298.60 crore and total contributions or income was Rs.587.39 crore.
