Phish is a popular Rock Band in the United States that is widely known for its extended jams, musical improvisation and blending of musical genres. Its broad variety of genres include Progressive rock, hard rock, blues, rock, folk, psychedelic rock and funk, etc. While the band has got little radio play or mainstream exposure, Phish has formulated a large and committed following by word of mouth, the change of live recordings, and promoting over 8 million albums and DVDs in the United States. The band has a dedicated fan base, which making it one of the most successful rock bands in the country.
Phish Band History and Achievements:
Phish was introduced in the year of 1983 at the University of Vermont when Trey Anastasio published pamphlets throughout the University Campus for searching musicians to create a band. Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman and Jeff Holdsworth had shown interest in published pamphlets and soon Phish band was launched with lineup solidified in 1985, when keyboardist Page McConnell joined the group (and persuaded Anastasio and Fishman to join him at nearby Goddard College) and Holdsworth left soon after. In the year 1991, the Phish band signed with Elektra Entertainment and has been sold approximately 8 million albums and DVDs along with fourteen studio albums and a multitude of live shows throughout the country. In the year 2006, the band launched its own record label called JEMP Records. Some of Phish Band associated acts are Pork Tornado, Trey Anastasio Band, Grateful Dead, Oysterhead, 70 Volt Parade, Rhythm Devils, Amfibian, Jazz Mandolin Project, Dave Matthews, Benevento/Russo Duo, Les Claypool, Ramble Dove and Phil Lesh and Friends.
