It was inaugurated in the year 1977 and is managed and owned by Simon Property Group which has sixty percent stake holding. It was built by The Kravco Company and acquired by Simon in the year 2003. Simon is a S&P 100 Company and it leads in retail real estate ownership, management and development across the world. It is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.

It owns around 115 malls, 66 premium outlets, 13 mils etc. across the globe. Montgomery Mall has over hundred and sixteen stores which provides a diverse range in categories varying from jewellery to women’s apparel. It is spread over an area of more than twenty six acres and features four departmental stores which are- JCPenney, Macy's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sears and Wegmans.
