Mission San Jose is a Spanish mission located in Fremont, California, United States. It was established on June 11, 1797 by Franciscan order as La Mision del Gloriosisimo Patriarca Senor San Jose. It is the namesake of the Mission San Jose district of Fremont. The Mission San Jose was the fourteenth Spanish mission established in the California. The founding father of the mission was Father Fermin Lasuen. The old mission Church is used as a chapel of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and the museum consists of the visitor center, museum and a slide show. The Mission is administered by the St. Joseph’s Parish including mission building and surrounding areas, church building and a school that serves the students from grade one through grade eight. The mission is now governed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland and it was designated by the United States National Register of Historic Places in the year 1971.
