Cessna is a brand name for small and piston-powered engine aircrafts and private jet planes. Cessna brand is officially called as Cessna Aircraft Company, is a general aviation aircrafts manufacturing company based in the United States. The company is headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. At present, the company operates as the key subsidiary of the United States based conglomerate Textron Aviation.
The history of Cessna Company started by a farmer, Clyde Cessna in Rago, Kansas in the mid 1911. He began its aircraft ventures in Enid, Oklahoma by testing of its own planes on the salt flats. At the point when investors in Enid declined to loan him more cash to build his planes, he moved to Wichita, Kankas. During the year 1927, he opened company as the Cessna-Roos Aircraft Company by two partners, namely Clyde Cessna and Victor Roos. In the same year, Roos's name dropped from the company name. In 1932, the company closed due to the Great Depression.
During the year 1934, the company reopened by Dwane Wallace and his Brother Dwight Wallace. The Cessna CH-1, the first helicopter by Cessna received FAA type certification in 1955. Cessna launched a four-seat, single-engine and high-wing fixed-wing aircraft, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk in 1956. In the year 1975, Cessna Company launched its 100,000th single engine airplane. After ten years, Cessna was reintroduced as a flagship company of General Dynamic Corporation and also began the Cessna Caravan plane.
Cessna Aircraft Company also operates a flagship company, McCauley Propeller Systems. The McCauley Propeller Systems is committed to make composite propellers for homebuilt and ultralight aircraft, and it was established in 1938. Cessna Aircraft Company has sales network across North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, as well as Asia. The company has established its manufacturing units in Wichita, Kankas, Independence, Kansas, Columbus, Georgia and Chihuahua, Mexico.
