CCS stands for Chaudhary Charan Singh University, a public university in Meerut, India. The university is an erstwhile Meerut University and renamed to Chaudhary Charan Singh University in honor of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India. It is spread in an area of about 222 acres. The university offers regular courses and self-financing courses. CCS has granted affiliations to over 480 colleges spanning across Saharangpur and Meerut divisions. The motto of the university reads,"Truth is Supreme Happiness."

Chaudhary Charan Singh University has been the home of people belonging to the politician, film and arts fields. Its notable alumni are Mayawati, K.C. Tyagi, Arun Govil, Yuvika Chaudhary, Kumar Sanu and Kumar Vishwas.
Infrastructure
The CCS University comprises of rose garden, indoor stadium, auditorium, health center, guest house, library, administrative block and botanical garden. Its library houses over two lakh collection of print materials while owns more than eight thousand online journals. It offers various educational courses in the fields of science, arts, education, technology, agriculture, engineering and law.
Brief History
The university was formed in the year 1966 to impart higher education in the state of Uttar Pradesh. In 1969, the university started M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes and was the pionner in India to teach M.Phil. course. CCS set up its library in 1968 while upgrade post-graduation courses to the modern syllabus for CCS.
