Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is officially known as Health Alliance Plan of Michigan, Inc. an American non-profit company that is based in Detroit, Michigan. The company operates as a subsidiary of Henry Ford Health System, Inc., a non-profit health care company of Michigan.
HAP provides healthcare plans to families, individuals and companies of any Size through HMO, PPO, Medicare and Medicaid plans. Health Alliance Plan of Michigan, Inc., provides a wide spectrum of managed health care plans for individuals of every Age and budget, corporate sector, group plans, Medicare plans and healthy Michigan and Medicaid. The group plans are Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). History
Health Alliance Plan of Michigan, Inc., was founded in 1956 by the president of United Automobile Workers (UAW) named as Walter Reuther. In 1976, HAP got official licensed of HMO. In 1986, company introduced first HAP Senior Plus and also becomes subsidiary of Henry Ford Health Systems. HAP acquires Independence Health Plan and Medical Value Plan in 1988 and becomes seventh largest HMO in the U.S. The member's strength of HAP crosses 500,000 marks in 1995.
