The university is an affiliated to Oak Ridge Associated Universities, State University System of Florida and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The university has six libraries namely- Wolfsonian Library, Medical Library, Glenn Hubert Library, Law Library and Engineering Library. On the other hand, FIU has 17 varsity teams which are known as 'Panthers'.
