History
The Corporation Bank was established in the year 1906 in Udupi as the Canara Banking Corporation (Udupi) Limited and is one of the oldest banks of India. The first branch of the bank was opened in Kundapur in the year 1923 and the second branch was started in the year 1926 at Car Street. The Bank was renamed as the Canara Banking Corporation Limited in the year 1939 and was later renamed as the Corporation Bank Limited in the year 1972. The Corporation Bank was nationalized in the year 1980 and was one of the public sector banks in India to enter the capital market.
