The American Institute of Architects shortly known as AIA is a well recognized non-governmental organization (NGO) for architects in the United States. AIA was incorporated on 23 February, 1857 in New York by the efforts of a team of 13 architects including H. W. Cleaveland, Henry Dudley, Leopold Eidlitz, Edward Gardiner and others in order to promote their scientific and practical perfection. AIA has a team of over 83,000 members. Its main motto is to support the architecture profession VIA the help of education, government advocacy, community redevelopment and public outreach. The membership supported by the AIA is divided into 5 categories, listed as Architect, Associate, International associate, Emeritus and Allied membership. AIA had employed more than 200 full-time employees to carry out its components in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Japan and Hong Kong. The headquarters of the American Institute of Architects is located in Washington, District of Columbia. In addition to this, AIA has been rewarded with series of awards such as Architecture Firm Award, Edward C. kemper Award, Young Architects Award, Educational Facility Design Awards and more for its achievements.
